Outdated and Forgotten Casino Games
An ever-increasing number of websites have started to offer casino games. Some of them offer advanced features and modernistic themes. Others possess a classic, retro outlook and very traditional rules. Gaming providers strive to offer new products and improve the already-existing ones day in and day out.
However, some games simply become too outdated to address modern-day demand. Others fail to captivate players and in time the market rejects them. This is not a bad thing, though, as it keeps the industry standards high and helps create a more vibrant gaming environment.
Today, we are going to look at seven games that went out of fashion due to different reasons. This will help us understand the trends that drive the market and, if you are a player, it will improve your ability to choose better, higher-quality games for yourself.
1. Casino Tic-Tac-Toe
Tic tac toe is one of the most simplistic games of fortune. A shrewd casino game designer came up with the idea to take this childhood game into gambling halls. Thus, in 2009, T. Christian A. Schlumbrecht patented the Casino Tic-Tac-Toe game and started offering it to land-based establishments.
The rules were really simple. The game used a 52-card deck with 26 X cards and 26 O cards. Instead of the typical 3×3 grid, however, players encountered a similar table containing the numbers 1 through 9. Still, they had to either bet on the X, O, or Tie. Easy, right?
Besides, the game had a house edge of 3.15, which is about the average. The outcome was entirely luck-based, so it was fun and pocket-friendly to play.
However, Casino Tic-Tac-Toe never survived due to a very peculiar story. Just as the game was about to gain popularity, some casinos adopted a version of tic tac toe where you play against a real chicken called “Ginger.” The chicken’s role was to point where the next move would fall on the grid. Ultimately, it turned out that chicken tic tac toe was manipulated because casino staff used a laser to point the chicken’s signals. Nonetheless, it still accounted for the death of Casino Tic-Tac-Toe.
2. Sigma Derby
This game still exists in the US although it is on the verge of becoming extinct. Only 10 Sigma Derby machines operate in the country at the present day. As you might guess by the name, the goal of this land-based game is to simulate horse races.
The rules are simple. You have a model of a real racetrack with five horses. Races are triggered mechanically and last for a whole minute. All you need to do is pick your favorite horse and place your bet.
Sigma Derby was introduced in 1985 and quickly gained a lot of fans. However, the large mechanical device takes too much space that can be used for slot machines. The latter bring in more money to casinos, so it makes no business sense to keep the Sigma Derby. Still, a few dedicated owners have refused to get rid of the machine and die-hard Sigma Derby enthusiasts flock to their establishments to play this entertaining game.
3. Casino War
This is another casino game that resembles simple childhood entertainment. You need only luck to play Casino War. The rules are straightforward: You play against the dealer, who flips over a card for you. The highest card wins the game. If the two of you tie, you can double your initial wager, thus “going to war.”
As you can see, although this game is fast-paced, there is not much to it. This is especially true given all modern-day casino alternatives that allow you to experience sophisticated, unusual gameplay. Besides, the house edge is 3%, which is not favorable.
4. Pineapple Poker
Poker is one of the most popular casino games. Its numerous variations attract players because to win, you need both good fortune and strategy. However, in a typical poker game players rival each other. This means the casino profits very little.
In contrast, Pineapple Poker is one of the game’s versions, where you play against the casino. While this scenario might seem quite thrilling, the bottom line is the house always wins. Thus, Pineapple Poker and its likes are getting frequently discarded in favor of more player-friendly poker variations.
5. 5-Card Draw
Talking about poker, the 5-card draw is a very popular variation played by families and friends. The game is quite entertaining and – depending on the bets – you can even make decent money if you are good at it.
However, casinos have not been keen to offer it. Typically, they favor Texas Hold’em instead. Despite this fact, video poker providers have been shrewd enough to embrace the gameplay, so you still have the chance to enjoy it at most online casinos. Besides, the house edge is quite low, which makes the 5-card draw all the more attractive.
6. Faro
Faro was a game that somewhat resembled roulette that is played on a table, where you would have all Spades laid out in front of you. The values ranged from the Ace being to lowest to the King being the highest. You and the other gamblers would then place your bets on the cards. Consequently, the dealer would draw two cards. The first one was the losing and the second was the winning.
7. 7-Reel Slots
There was a time at the beginning of this century when we had 7-reel slots. However, the 7-reel physical machines did not offer anything special compared to the already existing mechanical slots. That is why they never became popular at land-based casinos. In contrast, there are many 7-reel online slots full of amazing features that Internet gamblers enjoy today.

The Ladbrokes live casino is powered by Playtech – a name that needs no introduction. At this site, you’ll find at least a dozen live tables any time you show up – there are different betting limits and, most importantly, there is quite a selection of real dealers – whether you like Asian or Eastern European dealers, you’ll be glad to find wonderful ladies in elegant attire. There are side bets if you’re feeling lucky and an intriguing game variation, called Unlimited Blackjack, where there’s no limit to the number of players on the table.
#2 888 Casino
The live casino at 888 is powered by the current Number One in live games – Evolution Gaming. Enter 888’s lobby and you’ll find over 40 tables – there are regular tables, VIP tables, all the betting limits and dealers you’d ever want and then there’s everyone’s favourite Blackjack Party – it’s a unique table with a dealer, co-host, music in the background and lots of fun and jokes, low betting minimums and tonnes of entertainment!
#1 BetVictor
What can I say about BetVictor? Well, they do have a live casino to die for. Why, you’re asking? Because, my dear casino friends, they have live dealer games from four (yes, that’s 4!) different live platform providers. At the site, you’ll find tables from Evolution Gaming, Extreme Live Gaming, MediaLive and NetEnt. While not all these providers are of the same quality, nor do they offer the same quantity in terms of games and tables, it’s still quite a treat for any blackjack fan to have this kind of opportunity, so make sure you check them out.

Okay, guys, it’s time to do one of those posts. You know what I’m talking about – the type that aren’t really all that fun to read, and most people think are completely unnecessary, but are actually anything but. Yep, it’s time to talk about staying safe while gambling online for a little bit. Don’t leave! You might think that you’re not in danger of being scammed – after all, you’re an intelligent, rational individual who will surely spot any red flags right away! But, as a character from one of my favorite TV shows ever said, when you’re looking at something through rose-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags. Sometimes, when you find a casino with amazing bonus offers, a wide selection of games and just the nicest customer support ever, you might be willing to overlook the fact that they don’t seem to have any certification. “I’d never do that”, you might be saying, “only idiots fall for scams!” Actually, according to multiple studies, highly educated people who typically make smart business investments are just as likely, if not more likely, to get scammed. Sure, you might be smart, but so are the people who are trying to cheat you out of your money. So as sick as we all are of these PSAs, please stick with me for one more, okay?
So, why is it so important not to get scammed, and how can you possibly prevent that from happening? Well, there are multiple consequences that can occur as a result of a scam. Naturally, any money you invest in a fraudulent casino as a deposit is lost forever – even if you win, you’ll never be able to withdraw anything. If customer service respond at all, they’ll be citing bank troubles and will ask you to be patient, citing numerous delays and stalling you until you get sick of waiting and just leave them alone. What’s more, your credit card information might also get leaked or sold, if you’ve inputted it into the site. Worst case scenario, you might even get arrested! Since it’s illegal to participate in illegal gambling activities, if authorities catch wind of your involvement they could pursue legal action against you, as has happened several times. So you must be absolutely sure to protect yourself!
As for how to do that, honestly, that part’s relatively easy. It’s different for each country, but if you look up sites prioritizing safety first when it comes to online casino gambling, you can find a list of online casinos that have been tested, verified and proven to be legitimate fairly easily. Additionally, you can also do the check yourself – most sites have some kind of certificate they display in the footer that you can verify for yourself. For example, in the UK online casinos are legally required to be certified by the Gambling Commission in order to operate, which is why most UK casinos will have a link to their Gambling Commission certificate somewhere. Additionally, you can take the registration number from that certificate and look it up on the Commission’s website yourself, just to ensure that it’s legitimate. But as I said, it’s different in each country, so if you live in, say, Germany, you should look up your own gambling regulations and learn how to verify online casinos in your home! With that said, remember to stay safe and, most importantly, to have fun!

To be completely honest with you, my all-time favourite casino game is and always will be slots. A close second would be roulette, which is the first gambling game I’ve ever played with real money. I got really good at it, I must say, and I even devised my own systems and strategies for beating the odds. Perhaps I will go into a bit more detail on this topic in future articles – today, however, I have something different for you. In this article, I will talk a bit about my favourite roulette games. You can find those at quite a lot of reputable online casinos, and I highly recommend trying them out. In addition to great odds and RTP, those games are just a lot of fun.
Mini Roulette
One of the more unique variations of the classic game, Mini Roulette is a popular game developed by Playtech. In its core, it is a rather simplified version of roulette, with only 13 pockets instead of the usual 37. They are numbered from 0 to 12, with the even numbers being black, and the odd numbers – red. The zero is, of course, green. The smaller number of available pockets makes the game a lot less overwhelming, without affecting the casino edge that much.
With an estimated average RTP of 96.15%, Mini Roulette isn’t among the games with the highest return-to-player. However, due to its simplicity, the game is a real joy to play. The awesome graphics and animations by Playtech add further to the appeal of the game. All in all, Mini Roulette is perhaps the best beginner-friendly roulette game out there.
NewAR Roulette
For players who want to enjoy a classic version of the game, Playtech’s NewAR Roulette is one of the very best choices out there. Even though no one has a clue what its mysterious name means, New AR is a bare-bones roulette game, featuring outstanding graphics, sound, and interface. The rules are strictly European, and there are several customisable options for players to tinker with.
What is unique and unorthodox about this game are two additional outside bets that I’ve never seen in any other game. You can bet on Even + Red/0 and Odd + Black/0, with a payout of 3:1. As an experienced player, I do not recommend using those two additional bets, as they are not exactly profitable for the players. Stick to the standard bets, and have a blast with this cool roulette game.
Video Roulette
The last game we will cover in this article is another title by Playtech called Video Roulette. It is one of the most unique games of its kind, and it is a long-time fan favourite of many players. It is yet another game played by the classic rules of European roulette, with a wheel featuring a single zero and all the possible bets you’ve heard of. What is really cool about Video Roulette is the fact that the interface features a lot of useful game information and statistics – something that will definitely help out people who like to strategize and use roulette systems.
The game isn’t called Video Roulette for no reason. Even though it is an RNG game, as soon as you spin the wheel, you will be transferred to a separate screen and a recorded video of a real roulette wheel will start playing, determining the outcome of the round. This effectively makes the game a mix between RNG and live dealer games, in a way. The feature looks fantastic, and adds a lot to the experience and thrill of the game.
Play Those Cool Roulette Games Today!
Those were my top 3 favourite roulette games. I am not saying that there aren’t any other worthy games out there – on the contrary, there are actually quite a lot of awesome roulette titles that you can play at online casinos. These three are the ones I play the most, because they have unique features that I really like. I hope you enjoyed this article. Good luck out there!
Read MoreHow to Recognise a Good Online Casino
Online gambling has become hugely popular in the last decade, and more and more players choose online casinos over land-based ones. As a result, quite a lot of online casinos emerged to saturate the market. However, not all online operators are worthy of your trust. One must learn how to recognise a legit online casino, and not fall victim to one of the many illegal and crooked operators out there. In this article, I will talk to you about what to look for when choosing an online casino.
Licence & Certification
The most important thing you need to take into account when inspecting an online casino is whether or not they are certified by a government institution. Casinos that are not are practically illegal and you must report them to the authorities – if they allow you to gamble with real money, that is. For instance, if you are in the United Kingdom, you need to look for a licence by the United Kingdom Gambling Commission. All legit casinos have it proudly displayed right on their home page, usually at the bottom.
If a casino is licenced by the relevant government organ, this means that they strictly adhere to all standards in the industry, and undergo regular checks and testing. All games featured at a licenced casino are audited by independent organisations in order to ensure their fairness and integrity. Also, all money transactions at such a casino are safe and secure. To make a long story short – always play at a licenced casino!
Game Collection
A good online casino should have a good selection of available games. Since slots are probably the most popular game as of late, many operators decide to include hundreds of those at the expense of other classic casino games – like blackjack, roulette, baccarat, poker, etc. The best online casinos, however, put a heavier emphasis on those games, while also including a large collection of slots for the casual players.
Another sign of a good casino is the inclusion of live dealer games. Modern technologies allow playing a game of your choice while enjoying a live stream of a real dealer. This is perhaps the best way to experience games like blackjack, roulette, and baccarat. There are many software developers who produce such platforms, but the best by far are Evolution Gaming. A casino that features their live dealer games is definitely worthy of your attention.
Bonuses & Promotions
Every reputable online casino offers special bonuses to their players. The welcome bonus is an effective tool for attracting new customers, and regular promotions keep the players entertained and happy. The former is usually a cash bonus upon your first deposit at the casino – the amount goes up to £1500 at some operators! Sure, there are certain wagering requirements for the welcome bonus to be cashed out, but they are usually quite doable.
Some casinos also offer ongoing promos for active players – free games, bonus money, special offers, and even awesome rewards like a trip to Las Vegas! Not all operators choose to include a lot of those offers, but those that are surely dedicated to keeping their clients active – and this is something to commend.
Find the Right Casino for You
Those are the three most important things that you must look out for before playing at an online casino. If all criteria are met, you can be sure that you are dealing with a responsible, legit operator that will not scam you or be unfair in any way. Remember – when wagering real money on casino games, your safety should be your number one priority.

Hello and welcome to my blog! I am Hayat, and I’ve been an avid gambler my whole life. I don’t consider myself a professional, but my many years of experience in playing at online casinos have definitely taught me a thing or two. I decided to start sharing my knowledge with other fans of casino games, and hopefully be useful to at least a few newcomers. My motivation is to help you avoid the same mistakes I made as I was starting out.
I started playing at online casinos all by myself – I never had a more experienced player telling me how I should play, which casinos are legit, and how I should manage my bankroll. As a result, I managed to lose quite a lot of money – be it from my own inexperience at playing a particular game, or from my poor choice of a casino to play at. However, those failures made me think about my whole approach, and so I started thoroughly researching both the games I played and the operators I played at.
My goal with this website is to tell newcomers which the best online casinos are, which games are fair and rewarding, and how they should take care of their money. I will try my best to post on a regular basis, and keep my articles diverse, informative, and fun (when possible). If you would like me to cover a specific topic, do not hesitate to get in touch with me through the website – I will try to fulfil every request, as long as I am competent on the topic.
I hope you find my website useful. The information I will share with you will definitely improve your skill at online casino games, allowing you to get to those big wins we’ve all been dreaming of quicker. I promise to tell you about my big wins in one of the articles. Until next time!
